Your closest living relatives in the animal kingdom, chimpanzees share over 98 percent of our genetic code. Scientists reckon we had a common ancestor knocking about four to eight million years ago. These apes normally get around on all fours using their knuckles, but they're perfectly capable of standing and walking upright when they fancy it. They're brilliant in the trees—swinging branch to branch with real efficiency, which comes in handy since that's where they do most of their eating and sleeping. When it's time for bed, they build themselves cosy nests out of leaves high up in the canopy.
