The Clydesdale was bred with large, well-proportioned feet and sound legs built for hard, colestone roads. You'll notice they've got longer legs and a more streamlined body than most draft breeds—that's by design. The name comes from the Clyde Valley in Lanarkshire, Scotland, where it's believed to have originated (the valley was previously known as Clydesdale). It's the only living heavy horse from Scotland.
